Stephan Bonnar
Following the The Ultimate Fighter series, one of the star of that show that emerged was Stephen Bonnar. Born on 4th of April, 1977, Stephen Bonnar is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter who received his notoriety through reaching the finals of a Mixed Martial Arts event on Spike TV.
Bonnar has trained in various martial arts and is an expert in the traditional Korean art of Taekwondo. However, he has also trained in other disciplined such as Boxing, Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
Stephen Bonnar made his MMA debut in IC 3-Exodus in Novemeber 2001. In this fight he won by beating Brian Ebersole via submission. He would go on to win most of his fights before being called to attend The Ultimate Fighter show. Here he would progress to the finals and lose to Forrest Griffin. This fight would be classed as one of the best UFC fights in that year. Even though Bonnar lost, he still as awarded the six figure contract. He would then compete several times winning most of his bouts. In a re-match against Forrest Griffin he would lose again on a decision.
Bonnar tested positive for an anabolic steroid after UFC 62 on August 26, 2006. The banned substance that was found in Bonnar's post-fight urine sample after his unanimous decision loss to Griffin was Boldenone. Stephen Bonnar was subsequently issued a temporary ban on his fighter's license and was fined $5,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commision.
Stephen Bonnar is considered a competent mixed martial arts fighter with good kicks and a good grappling background. His future in the support will depend on whether he can evolve further in areas of weakness.
