Ricardo Arona
Ricardo Arona was born in the month of July in 1978 in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Ricardo started the art of Brazilian jujitsu at an early age and has won many tournaments in both Brazil and other countries such as the United States. His highest grappling accolades have come from competing in the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) where he has consistently won the tournament.
Ricardo Arona’s mixed martial arts career really took off when he joined the highly acclaimed Brazilian Top Team, which includes some of the best fighters in the world. Ricardo Arona has been known for his amazing strength and considered amongst the strongest fighters pound for pound in the world. His strategy usually involved dominating his opposition on the ground and controlling them in order to apply submission or ground and pound tactics.
Ricardo has competed in Pride Fighting Championships where he has had some success. Due to his initial success after three consecutive victories, he lost to Quinton Jackson in a highly controversial fight. However after this loss, Ricardo Arona won consecutively on three occasions. In addition to these victories, Ricardo has beaten some of the best fighters in the world which include MMA stars such as Wanderlei Silva, Sakuraba and grappling sensation Dean Lister.
All in all it can be argued that Ricardo Arona’s lack of world titles in the mixed martial arts world are no a true reflection of his abilities. This simple assumption is based on the fact that he has fought and beat some of the best MMA fighters in the world as aforementioned. It has been argued by some MMA spokesmen, that the best of Ricardo Arona is yet to be seen. His highly regarded win over Alistair Overeem is evidence of both his ability as well as his potential future success. |
