Mario Neto is a professional heavyweight ‘Ultimate Fighting Championship’ (UFC) combatant and a mixed martial arts fighter. He is commonly called ‘Sukata’. He was born in 1974 in Joao Pessoa in Brazil. He possesses a professional record of 9 – 4 – 0 (9 wins, 4 losses and no draws) with six of his wins coming by submission. Neto is presently on a winning streak of seven fights with victories over UFC veterans Gary Goodridge and Seth Petruzelli.
Mario did go to school in his youth, but sadly could not finish it. Mario Neto started fighting Judo when he was just eight years old and he soon advanced to black belt level. He was aware about Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and Mario started to train in it as well. Mario obtained a black belt under the able guidance of Carlson Gracie. Most of Brazil’s top fighters hail from this gym. Some of the them were Murilo Bustamante , Paulo Filho, Vitor Belfort and Mario Sperry. He then joined the Top Brazilian Team and for two years trained with them. From there he fought in Russia. He also became the head coach at Wolfslair. Some of the ranks he has earned over the years embrace the Judo black belt, BJJ black belt, three-time Brazilian champion in BJJ, International Master Seniors BJJ, and the also heavyweight champion of the WAFC.
With his Brazilian Ju-Jitsu style, Mario trains under the expert guidance of Tony Quigley. Mario Neto’s well rounded built and his training in BJJ serves him well as a UFC fighter. His training regime includes jogging, weightlifting; MMA Thai boxing and boxing. He trains with a large and strong team that all train together, including all the top U.K fighters - Mike Bisping, Ian Freeman, etc.
Mario Neto is presently Head Coach of one of the biggest gyms in England, the Wolfslair Academy. Although highly relaxed, Mario 'Sukata' Neto presents a variety of jiu-jitsu prowess and fight experience to the Wolfslair. His students have overwhelming respect for him. Wolfslair is a great gym; and have had exceptionally great fighters.
In just a short period of time, it has achieved great success and could be a serious contender for one of the finest gyms in the world in the near future. With the advent of Mario Neto as coach, he brought the suggestion to do extra MMA. Being a black belt holder in BJJ himself, Mario Neto preferred MMA training more and proposed the idea of making a squad of MMA fighters by giving them excellent training opportunities and facilities. A terrifying competitor himself, Mario is also preparing for the challenge of his life, having signed a contract with the UFC recently. |
