Mac Danzig


Mac Danzig is an American proficient mixed martial arts practitioner and instructor, an erstwhile lightweight division champion for the King of the Cage and  Gladiator Challenge mixed martial arts societies. Mac Danzig was born on January 2, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio though he presently resides in Los Angeles, California. During his stint as an amateur mixed martial artist, Danzig was also became the lightweight U.S. MMA National Champion in the Extreme Challenge Trials of 2001.

Mac Danzig is of Scotch-Irish and German pedigree and grew up in the Pittsburgh area prior to shifting to Los Angeles to track his career. He is branded for being a strict vegan plus being a staunch supporter of animal rights.

Danzig has an amateur record of 5-0 with four of his wins coming by submission. Mac kicked of his professional mixed martial arts career back in October of 2001 when he fought Cedric Stewart at the Extreme Challenge Trials. From that point he went on to win two more fights before he hit a bump in the road. In the year 2002, Danzig lost his first fight to UFC veteran Kurt Pellegrino. After suffering his first loss, Danzig went on a
1-1-1 three-fight stretch where he lost to Laverne Clark and drew Jason Von Flue.

Since that time Danzig has shown a lot of improvement as he is currently on a 12 fight winning streak and he also holds titles in King of the Cage and Gladiator Challenge.
While Danzig is known to be impressive as a grappler, enjoying 11 of his victories by submission; he has demonstrated himself to be an adroit striker, most remarkably with his TKO strike victory over earlier lightweight champion Takumi Nakayama. After routing Royce Gracie and black belt Buddy Clinton on 4th august 2006, Danzig amplified his winning roll to 12 in a wrangle with an undisputed decision win above Miletich trained pugilist, John Mahlow on September 29th in Calgary, Canada. Mac Danzig’s preceding fight was beside Hayato Sakurai at PRIDE 33 on February 24th. Danzig lost the combat by TKO a little above the 4-minute mark of round 2. Mac Danzig’s Professional Submission League debut came against Alan Zborovsky. Danzig was successful in his debut fight as he took a 6-0 lead before he locked on a choke and finished his opponent.

Mac is currently a member of the training camp,Legends Gym Jiu-Jitsu, based out of Hollywood, California. Mac was known for his association with the R1 fight team (formerly known as RAW) and had been a student of Iowa wrestling standout Rico Chiapparelli and MMA fighter Frank Trigg. Since then he has been undertaking training in boxing extensively at Wild Card gym in Hollywood, California under Freddie Roach assistant Justin Fortune. At this point it’s only a matter of time before a big organization like the UFC, Pride, or the WFA picks up this lightweight stand out.
