The proper definition of Bruce Lee's art cannot be defined as different people have labeled the movements of his martial art in different ways. Some find this art to be a modified wing chun, whereas some practitioners feel that it is just the basic combination of various other martial arts in its modern form.
The other definations claim Brucee Lee's art as the "Way of the Intercepting Fist." However, these definitions, although not clear, specify a common modern definition of Jeet Kune Do as being a combination of technical and philosophical knowledge, studied by Bruce Lee and taught in recent times. The technical part of Jeet Kune Do, shows the physical and scientific method, whereas the philosophical part emphasis on the mental, social and spiritual knowledge imparted by this art.

Bruce Lee studied various martial arts and worked on them whole heartedly to form his own methods and techniques. He explained the philosophy that would support the art. It was Bruce Lee's magical impact of the modernized training techniques where he teached the physical, i.e. spiritual and mental aspects of the art and also the scientific principles, underlying the foundation of the techniques. He learnt that importance of the spiritual and mental upliftment of a person was important, as it was not the exterior strength, but the inner strength in the way of confidence, desire and will to do something in life. It is a myth that only a strong person with good muscles can learn martial arts. Martial arts are not performed to kill someone. Its techniques and moves are to defend oneself in the sight of unexpected attacks. Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do can be viewed as a guide to reach the highest peak of personal liberation through the study of martial arts.
Bruce Lee wanted his students to be self dependant and not even feel the need of a teacher. His teachings do not put any restrictions on how you should do things. It accepts each individual in his own form, irrespective of his age, sex, strength or weight. It is just a source of inspiration and delight solely for those who posses an interest in Bruce Lee and the martial viewpoint that he created.
