Hayato Mach Sakurai is a Japanese mixed marital arts fighter. He was born on 8/24/1975. This star was born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Hayota Sakurai is popularly called as Mach and this is pronounced as Ma-ha. He has been in this field since 1996. His fighting record is 30-7-2. He has height 5’7 and weight 163lbs. His fighting styles include Shooto, judo and wrestling. Out of his 30 victories, 8 were by knock out and 10 were by submission. Hayato Mach Sakurai has great striking, grappling and submission skills. He is truly a pioneer in mixed marital arts. He is one of the greatest fighters in mixed marital arts. He is associated with Mach Dojo.
Hayato Mach Sakurai made his professional debut in the Shooto in October 1996. In this match he submitted Caol Uno. After this he got consistent victories in many matches. People started appreciating his unmatched talent. But finally in 2001, he was defeated after so many victories. Anderson Silva finally defeated Hayato Mach Sakurai. After this he met with a severe car accident. And then he fought against Matt Hughes but unfortunately lost this match by TKO in the 4th round.
After such setbacks, Hayato Mach Sakurai fought in Japan’s largest MMA organization, Pride Fighting Championships. But still his performances were not up to the mark. He also lost against many fighters who were of lower ranks. In 2005, he regained himself and started focusing on his fights. He trained with Matt Hume. Hayato Mach Sakurai had many critics but he wanted to participate in Pride’s Lightweight Grand Prix. But he defeated Jens Pulver and Joachim Hansen and in this way Hayato Mach Sakurai silenced his critics. Even though he still suffered the injury, he did not let it know to other than his training circle. At Bushido 11 he scored a brutal KO over Olaf Alfonso. He also performed very well at Bushido 12 against Azevedo. But when the temperature rose to great extents this match was stopped. His last match was Pride 33 against Mac Danzig who is a great champ. In the second round Hayato Mach Sakurai won the fight via knock out.
Hayato Mach Sakurai has won over many legends like Frank Trigg, Jens Pulver, Dave Menne, Yves Edwards, Joachim Hansen, Caol Uno, and Luiz Azeredo. He has fought great fights and has achieved remarkable victories. Even though Hayato Mach Sakurai performed well in his career initially, he was suspected to not fight well after his severe car accident. But Hayato Mach Sakurai with his dedication and hard work proved that he is not affected by any such set back. He made a great comeback. All around the globe, he has an awesome fan base.
