The Brazilian boxing champion Edson Drago was born on 29-08-1977. His records position him with 9 wins, 2 losses and 0 draws. He weighs 220 lbs and his height is 6’4. Edson is associated with “Brazilian top team”.
Edson started his boxing career with “Meca” which is South America's largest mixed martial arts fighting championships. Being a part of this championship is an honor in itself as it only includes the world's toughest fighters. Since this championship is held in Brazil, only if one clears this, can one enter other international championships with ease. It was on the 7th of august 2005 when Edson won this title against Eduro Mai.
This boxing champion is identified with his instant KO’s in the international fighting community. He is known to end his fights with these quick KO’s. One of his famous KO acts was seen in his match against Tengiz Tedoradze, which lasted for only four seconds. This match was a turning point in his career where he was cherished for his great game planning.
Drago then through media, gave an open challenge to all the boxers round the globe by boasting of his strength. He passed on his famous statement “If you want a man standing and another on the ground, you just need to make a call!” to all the MMA event promoters.
This famous boxer made his debut in “PRIDE” in 2006, when he fought against Pawel Nastula and faced a loss. He appeared once again in “PRIDE 34” the year after that and here once again he lost against Yoshihiro Nakao.
The most famous incident of Edson’s life has been, of him not fighting with “Marcio Corleta” as his boxing technician did not permit the same. This was because Corleta was also trained by the same technician who felt that he wasn’t fit enough to fight Edson. This had created a lot of hype among both the opponent’s fans.
The event Edson repents of the most is his “Jungle fight incident” against Hélio Dipp, where he kept beating him even when he had lost and was already KO'd. He had done this due to a past rivalry. However this was beyond the ethics of the fight, and more so beyond humankind. He finally is in peace with this opponent and also participated in the peace campaign that was organized for the two.
Edson spends his day training himself, to do better and building his body stronger. His area of expertise is his feet techniques that he uses on his opponents. He believes in using maximum boxing techniques, as these have never let him down. With boxing however he is also polishing his ground skills and sharpening his takedowns.
In all, Edson Drago proves to be an all rounder in every aspect of his career with his renewing attitude of “Never giving up".
