Ed Herman also known as Ed “Short fuse” Herman in the world of mixed martial arts was born on 2nd October 1980 in Vancouver, Washington. His father raised him, his little brother and two-step sisters. Currently Ed lives with his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter.
His interest in wrestling was instilled in him by his father who was a great wrestler of his times. His father’s famous fight was the one where he wrestled for Iowa.
Ed’s career as an athlete began in his high school times when with football, Ed was also a part of the wrestling team. This stream in his life took a strong grip after his graduation when he moved to Portland taking up martial arts firstly as a hobby, but later found it to be interesting enough to be practiced on a fulltime basis.
It was in 2002, when his amateur-fighting career began with his first score of 7-2. From then on, he is known for his ground and pound style. Ed experienced the world of fame with his entry as the third contestant in the biggest reality television show called the “The Ultimate Fighter”. He was training under Ken Shamrock at that time.
One of his famous fights has been against “Chris Price”where Herman lost. He also lost his last fight in the UFC to Jason Macdonald. This was an extremely important fight in the career of Herman. It was here where he could have achieved what every wrestler looks out for, the “UFC Championship”. Though he lost in the “Ultimate Fighting Championships” he was awarded for his brilliant performance by a contract of $24,000 handed to him by the UFC president Dana White.
Ed is now climbing the ladder of success acquiring the position of being the most famous in the 185 lb (84 kg) weight class. His MMA record is of 3 losses and 14 wins.
Currently Ed is one of the top 185lbs fighters in the world and is the current IFC middleweight champion in the world. He coaches in the Team Quest Fight club and also participates in the fights there. With wrestling he is also interested in other outdoor activities that act as a stress buster for him.
With all the achievements he has gained, his ultimate aim is to receive the UFC middleweight championship.
In all, Ed Herman has had a career that is strongly rooted with all the hard work, hardships and experience he has gained, and has a future which is looking forward to see him making a strong push in the middleweight division. |
