Chris Price is a UFC middleweight fighter. He is a former marine who took to fighting. He is polite, down to earth, honest and ambitious and is just 24 years of age. He joined the Marines Corps in 2001, straight out of high school. He continued with the marines till 2003 or 2004, and after his term was over, he did not have an idea of how to live his life further on. He started working in a warehouse, but hated it.
It was only when his friends to see some underground fighting shows, his interest was spiked. He went to one such show, where one of the contestants did not turn up at the last minute. Since he was the same size as Chris, Chris who was interested, replaced him and won the match. This was in Sept. 3, 2005 and Chris has not looked back since. His first bout took place in October 2005.
Chris trains in southwest Indianapolis at Modern Gladiator Gym. His training partners include Sean Salmon, who is a great wrestler and Mike McDonald. But he is not a full time boxer. He holds a 40-hour job where he empties trailers, huge appliances, washers, dryers, refrigerators throughout the day. After that he trains in the gym, making it a long day.
Chris’s strengths have not yet been completely realized as he is a novice. He considers he has to learn many things. But he thinks he is like a sponge, where he tries to absorb as much as possible. He adopts relentless style, by wearing down his opponents. He is highly conditioned and keeps himself fit because of his military experience.
Chris’s first bout was against Kendall Grove. Though he lost the fight, he learnt many new things. He understood his flaws and train in a new way and get ready for the unexpected. Now his next bout is scheduled against Ed Herman.
Chris is single and lives with his girlfriend. Besides his other people who support him are his agent and the sponsor, if one exists. As he is a novice, he is yet to get sponsors on the regular basis.
Chris’s ultimate goal is to be 2-1 in his present three-fight deal. As he has already lost the first match to Kendall, he wants to win his remaining 2 matches. But he thinks he may not get the UFC contract, due to his inexperience. Most of the UFC contestants are highly experienced, that is missing in Chris. In case, if he fails to get the contract, he plans to take a break of 1-2 years to get plenty of experience and training.
But as Chris loves fighting, he is sure, he’ll return to UFC. He aims to be a top contender and win the UFC title. |
