Anthony Perosh


Anthony Perosh is an Australian Mixed Marital art competitor. He is a BJJ Black belt and has specialized in Thai kickboxing. In 2003, he was 3rd in the world in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Anthony Perosh is currently Australian Spartan heavy weight MMA champion. He began his training in MMA in 1994 and in BJJ in 1996. In 1997, he moved to Dallas, Texas to train with Carlos Machado who has been world BJJ champion. Machado presented Anthony Perosh with a Black Belt in Machado Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He also learnt Kempo along with kickboxing with Paul Zadro in 1996. His record is 5-3-0. In all his 5 victories he had won via submissions. Anthony Perosh’s height is 6’3 and falls under weight division of 225lbs. Anthony Perosh is popularly called as The Hippo.

Anthony Perosh’s career graph has many ups and downs. On 11/29/2003, Api Hemara was defeated by Anthony Perosh via submission (Rear Naked Choke) at SRF8. In this match he also won against Mal Foki through submission (strikes). Even David Frendin was defeated via submission choke. He lost against Sam Nest in Shooto Australian NHB on 5/20/2004. At SRF 10, he won against Matt Foki through submission (triangle choke) on 7/31/2004.  In February 2006, he won against Ross Dallow at Warrior Realm 5 via rear naked choke. On 12/30/2006, Anthony Perosh lost against Christian Wellisch at UFC 66 through unanimous decision. On 7/8/2006, he lost against Jeff Monson through TKO at UFC 61-Bitter Rivals. This match is memorable. Jeff Monson had thrown knees from the Thai clinch at UFC 61 against Anthony Perosh.

Anthony Perosh has fought many BJJ matches. After winning the South Pacific Submission Grappling Championship, he won World Submission Grappling Championships 3 times. He has won Australian BJJ title 7 times. Anthony Perosh’s sponsors are Musashi and Atama Kimonos. With Elvis Sinosic, he runs a full time mixed marital arts academy. According to Anthony Perosh, Brazilian jiu-jitsu is ultimate in ground fighting. He advocates BJJ to be a complete fighter in all sense. His affiliation is with Machado jiu-jitsu. He has specialized in Machado Brazilian jiu-jitsu style. John Will has been his trainer. Anthony Perosh has become world famous due to his grappling and striking skills.

He truly works hard to gain competence and perfection. He has become pioneer in this field of MMA. Currently he trains many fighters in his school and moves ahead in his career. He gives a lot of credit to his trainer John Will for his success.
